v 3 issue 3: Baby Gadgets

Baby Gadgets
Gadgets are an inevitable fixture in the home where there is a new baby. We have found several new gadgets on the market that we feel you should consider when purchasing for baby. While not all may be necessities, they certainly make your life with baby a lot easier!

Cover by Shannon Stewart.

Make life easy with these Baby Gadgets
tot trends weekly

1. If only DaysAgo had been invented years ago! This smart tracking digital day counter keeps track of how many days ago a baby jar (or any other food container) was opened, so you don't have to. Choose from magnetic or suction; each 2-pak is just $10.

2. Lack of sleep means loss of memory, but thankfully, tired moms and dads can rely on the ITZBEEN Baby Care Timer. The multi-purpose gadget for your nursery helps you keep track of basic baby care. Four timers begin counting up at the touch of a button, so you know exactly how long it's been since baby last ate, slept, was changed, nursed, and more.

3. 100% hands free, and 100% mobile; the Babeebright allows you to use both hands for changing diapers, preparing bottles, searching for a pacifier...and so much more. The Babeebrite can clip onto nearly any surface up to an inch thick, has an adjustable 90 degree arm, and is gentle enough that it doesn't affect baby's night vision.

4. Early education takes on a whole new meaning with the BabyPlus Prenatal Education System. Comprised of a set of sound lessons that are played to the prenatal child, this patented system teaches baby to distinguish between rhythmic heartbeat sounds. This small lesson has been shown to have enormous results: BabyPlus babies more readily nurse, are more alert, have earlier developmental milestones, demonstrate improved school readiness as well as greater creativity and longer attention spans.

5. Our eyes lit up when we saw the Baby Light and Clip nail clipper. This small gadget has 4 big safety features that make trimming the tiniest of nails a cinch: The nail clipper illuminates your little one's fingertips revealing what part of the nail needs trimming, safety guards help prevent nicks, the handle is designed for both comfort and control, and the compartment traps the tiny nail clippings. The Baby Light and Clip is a must-have, and at only $14.95 it is a can-have for every mom.

6. The 4Moms Cleanwater Infant Tub with Thermometer is a fresh and safe twist on baby's bathtime. The tub's innovative reservoir system drains dirty water from the tub while replacing it with clean water from the faucet, so baby is always bathing in fresh, clean water. And, you can trust that the faucet water will always be just the right temperature thanks to the tub's instant-read digital thermometer. Should the faucet water become to warm or too cold, an alarm will alert you immediately to the change.

This week's Momtips:
tot trends weeklyCleaning Tip: If you have stainless steel appliances, you'll love this cleaning tip. Simply take a small amount of baby oil, apply to a cleaning rag, and rub onto your stainless steel, top to bottom. Tried, tested and true, this trick will get rid of those annoying streaks other cleaning solutions leave behind!

Greening Tip: If you're a mom, you know the value of plastic Ziploc bags! Perfect for snacks, crayons and lunch money...but terrible for the environment. So, try reusing those Ziploc bags. A simple gadget called the Bag-E-Wash allows you to put used bags right in the dishwasher for easy cleaning and disinfecting.

Financial Tip: For all you mom's who haven't checked it out yet, the new eBay is Craigslist. Simply choose your state (listed on the right hand side of the site), and then visit the 'For Sale' section for lots of great finds!

Parenting Tip: Teach your kids about the importance of writing Thank You Notes, and make it fun so that it becomes a life-long practice! For younger kids, talk about why you are writing a thank you note, and then allow them to draw a picture for the person they are thanking. Allowing them to place the stamp on the envelope and help you put it in the mailbox will add to the fun. For older kids, fun stationary that's all their own will do the trick. We love eeBoo's sweet notepapers!

Wet your child's appetite for fitness with a little water fun: Kayaking isn't just for grown-ups anymore!
tot trends weekly The Acadia Scout Kayak by Perception is specially designed for kids 8-12: it features a low deck height so little elbows clear the deck while paddling and a small cockpit where smallest of kayakers can sit comfortably and maneuver easily. And, as your little paddler improves, a rudder can be easily added. Available in red or yellow, the Acadia Scout is sure to turn your little kayaker's friends green with envy!

If your little kayaker isn't ready to be on their own, then Bean's Dirigo Tandem Plus Kayak by Old Town is just the thing. This tandem kayak has the capacity to carry two adults and a child, without loss of stability or maneuverability. The child seat in the rear cockpit can be removed for more cargo space and the rear seat can be moved forward for solo paddling.

If your kids like to stay hot on your trail, lead them in some fitness fun with the Schwinn Runabout Trailer. An ingenious coupler makes attaching the Runabout fast and easy, and leaves you (thankfully!) in control of steering, speed and braking. The runabout's adjustable seat and handlebars allow the bike to grow with your child. Don't expect a runaround when it comes to safety, the Schwinn runabout comes with a safety flag, frame safety pad and reflectors. Take a little ride on over to TinyRide.com to find the Schwinn Runabout Trailer.

take a stroll

tot trends weekly

From the makers of Snapple, comes Waddajuice, another drink made from the best stuff on earth...water! Available in brightly colored spill-proof bottles, Waddajuice is a healthy blend of purified water and fruit juice that kids will love to drink. And, because it has 50% less sugar and is fortified with Vitamin C and calcium, Waddajuice is just what the pediatrician ordered.

When developing a new kid's drink, it’s all about thinking inside the box...the juice box that is! Stacey Griffin (a mom of course!) figured out that juice box was the perfect way to get kids to drink water, and Aqua2Go was born. Aqua2Go boxes contain 100% purified water, have a shelf life of 5 years, and can be found online and in hundreds of groceries stores nationwide. If you've ever cried over spilled juice or gagged over spoiled milk, then let your kids drink water (and have fun doing it).
If your little one isn’t a big fan of water yet, give them a special fruit flavored treat! At Waterloos you’ll find all natural berry, apple and grape flavored water fit perfectly in a box for on the go hydration!

v 3 issue 1: Critter Corner

With summer in full swing, the bugs and butterflies have come out to play. This issue contains fun products that celebrate the beauty of little critters.

cover by Tiffany Hughes

critter playtime for toddlers
tot trends weekly Fun is always in bloom with Kushies' Play Garden. This magnetic build and stack activity garden allows little ones to create their own colorful garden, and grow their imagination. tot trends weekly Cute critters make learning fabulously fun with Froggy Frenzy. A funny ribbit, buzz or burp when your child feeds Froggy one of the colorful plush insects is the sound of learning made fun (cause and effect, and motor skill development). A door in Froggy's belly makes for easy bug removal, so the fun doesn't have to stop (and so the learning can go on!). Leap on over to egiggle.com for your Froggy Frenzy.

chasing butterflies
tot trends weeklyThis issue we said bring on the bugs, and chasing fireflies made us proud with their Bring On The Bugs! Hotel and Butterfly Net. Sweet illustrations and a wood-and-net construction make the Bring On The Bugs! Hotel and Butterfly Net charming and whimsical. Measuring 7"L x 4 1/2"H x 4 1/2"W, the hotel provides ample room for insects of all types, and yet is small enough for little entomologists to carry. And, the deep netting and light weight of the Butterfly Net make it easy for small hands to fill any hotel vacancies. Accommodations provided by Bring On The Bugs! Hotel, and airfare provided by Bring On The Bugs! Butterfly Net.

snug as a bug
tot trends weeklyBed bugs are fabulous when they're Lady Bug Nap Sacks from Sozo! Designed with snaps at the shoulders and underarms and a hidden zipper running down the right side and bottom, the Nap Sack opens fully for easy access. And of course we love that Nap Sacks offer reduced risk factors associated with SIDS. Snug as a bug in a rug, courtesy of Sozo Nap Sacks.

bugalicious mealtime
tot trends weekly If you’re hungry for more cute critters, check out the Dragonflies Bib from Crocodile Creek! This super cute bib is also super functional: the coated cotton bib is super easy to clean, the velcro closure is safe and fast, the convenient pocket is a must-have catchall, and the larger size (10" X 7") allows for maximum protection and lots of use (for ages 6-36 months). Pop on in to lollipop kisses for your Dragonflies Bib.

tot trends weekly For something even cuter than a bug in a rug, checkout the critter placemats from Grow (especially the cute as a bug placemat- our favorite!). Adorable illustrations, and fantastic functionality make these placemats a must have for tots. We love how the thick matte finish on these laminated placemats makes for easy cleaning and prevents curling. Personalize a placemat for your little love bug, or buy a set for the whole table, at grow.com.
